Support for shelters in Warsaw

18 Apr 2022.

An encouraging team of volunteers arrived from Japan to deliver relief supplies to a shelter with around 3,000 people in Modlinska ✨.

Volunteer team Morita-san, Hamada-san, Sonoda-san and Tabuchi-san gave 10 mattresses.

Clothes etc. from corporate members,

Mr Sasaki went to the evacuation centre with soap and other items that did not require the use of water.

The situation was really heartbreaking, as there were elderly people who became ill with cancer during the support visits, and there were people who found work but could not find a house to live in with their dogs and children, but one of the volunteer team was able to help these people to become independent by only having the initial cost of a flat.

An old lady of about 80 years old was holding my hand and saying “Thank you” and “Thank you”, from my point of view as a Japanese, “Thank you” and “I’m sorry” are words you hear on dates and times, but to receive a “Thank you” from this woman who was suffering was a heart-wrenching feeling.

What have we done for this grandmother? And what can we do?

She gave us a lovely handmade pottery as a souvenir. It was handmade and she brought it from Ukraine.

It’s not these people’s fault, it’s sad that they are not allowed to live happily.

We will not give up and will keep on dreaming of a world where everyone can laugh✨.
